This year’s CBC Massey Lectures feature Payam Akhavan on the topic In Search of a Better World: A Human Rights Odyssey, a survey of human rights struggles and how they have personally affected Akhavan.
The final lecture, The Spirit of Human Rights, will take place in Toronto on Wednesday, October 4th.
The lectures are published in book form and will be broadcast on CBC Radio at the beginning of November.
Payam Akhavan is a Professor of International Law at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, a Member of the International Court of Arbitration, and a former UN prosecutor at The Hague.
In 2016, Akhavan contributed to the panel discussion, “From Global to Local: The Importance of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to Reconciliation in Canada,” that WFMC held at the time of the World Peace Award presentation to Senator Murray Sinclair at the World Social Forum.
