At the World Social Forum, WFM-Canada and Democracia Global Argentina introduced the Campaign for the establishment of a Latin American and Caribbean Criminal Court Against Transnational Organized Crime.
The campaign is building a coalition of Latin American and Caribbean organizations committed to the creation of a regional judicial body to prosecute crimes and promote coordinated security policies, based on the UN Convention on Transnational Organized Crime and its Palermo Protocols. The workshop explained the basic outlines of the initiative, including comparisons with the campaign for the ICC.
Leading the workshop was Florencia Gor, of Democracia Global (Argentina) and World Federalist Movement – Canada with background information on the Coalition for the International Criminal Court provided by Jim Christie and moderation by Nick Christie.
The audio of this workshop will form the basis for the first set of episodes in WFMC’s new podcast, How To Build A World Community. A preview of the podcast is available through SoundCloud.
