On April 20th, the Women, Peace and Security Network – Canada presented “Canada’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security: How Far Have We Come, and Where are We Going?” at the University of Ottawa.
The workshop included presentations by members who contributed to WPSN-C’s latest publication “Looking Back, Looking Forward: Reflections on Canada’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security”, as well as responses from Global Affairs Canada and the Department of Defence. The discussion, which focused on understanding past practices and finding new ways forward for Canada’s NAP, was well attended.
As well, the women, peace and security study undertaken by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development continues. To date, 21 witnesses have presented to the committee. Minutes, evidence presented, and video or audio of the committee meetings are available. The committee intends to have the study’s report completed in June.
