Canadian legislation on the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The private member’s bill C-262, An Act to ensure that the laws of Canada are in harmony with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, sponsored by Member of Parliament Romeo Saganash, passed second reading in the Senate earlier this month and has been referred to the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.

The committee is scheduled to meet this week, on Tuesday, May 28th and Wednesday, May 29th. Committee meetings are streamed through the parliamentary website and recordings and transcriptions will be available afterwards.
