PyeongChang Peace Forum

On 9-11 February, more than 1000 participants from 40 countries gathered in South Korea for the PyeongChang Peace Forum (PPF). This meeting followed the inaugural PyeongChang Global Peace Forum in 2019 that commemorated the first anniversary of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics. This year’s Forum memorialized the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War (25 June 1950) as indicated by the slogan “70 Years Is Enough.”

The gathering of civil society representatives from around the world also offered an organizing opportunity for the UN2020 campaign, which is focused on preparations for an April 23 “UN75 People’s Forum for the UN We Need.” The PPF generated a substantive outcome document, the PyeongChang Message for Peace.
