The UN2020 Campaign works in partnership with civil society, governments and the UN to generate support for using the 75th anniversary of the United Nations in 2020 as an opportunity to take stock and strengthen the UN system.
Like many organizations, businesses and households responding to the new coronavirus, the Campaign has moved even more of its outreach and advocacy activities online. A People’s Forum that was to take place April 23-24 at the United Nations will now take place May 14, as an online discussion. Organizers plan to adopt a “UN75 People’s Declaration for the UN We Need” and make the discussion available in all six UN languages.
A UN2020 Global Update Call is scheduled for Tuesday March 31 at 9:30 am EST. Anyone may join the call, using this Zoom link (https://zoom.us/j/436337946). The agenda for the call includes updates on campaign advocacy, the UN Secretariat’s UN75 campaign, development of the intergovernmental discussions preparatory to the Leaders Summit (still scheduled for September 21), and other news on how the UN itself is coping with meeting closures likely extending well into the summer.
