The World Federalist Movement is supporting the participation of young volunteers and activists at the Ventotene International Seminar on Federalism, which takes place from 3-8 September 2017.
Sponsored by the Altiero Spinelli Institute for Federalist Studies, the Seminar takes place on the small island of Ventotene in the Mediterranean. Altiero Spinelli, author of the federalist “Ventotene Manifesto,” was imprisoned at Ventotene during the Second World War. European and World Federalists have honoured his activism and contributions to the early development of the European Union by returning to Ventotene each year for meetings and the International Seminar.
This is a conference for young activists. Participants are drawn primarily from JEF (Young European Federalists) and the World Federalist Movement. Subsidies covering conference registration, full board and accommodation are available from the Altiero Spinelli Institute. Additional subsidies covering travel expenses are available from the World Federalist Movement.
Individuals interested in attending the seminar should contact the WFMC national office before May 1. Submissions should include:
- Applicant’s CV;
- Brief description of the candidate’s engagement in federalist activities in recent years;
- Very short motivational letter from the candidate explaining why he/she wants to attend the Ventotene Seminar.
