The World Federalist Movement – Canada 2016 Annual Meeting takes place in Montreal, at the time of the World Social Forum, August 9 to 14.
The WFMC World Peace Award will be presented to Senator Murray Sinclair, former chairperson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. Senator Sinclair’s address is entitled “From Global to Local: The Importance of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to Reconciliation in Canada.” The event is co-sponsored by the McGill University Faculty of Law and the McGill University Institute for the Study of International Development. Remarks by Senator Sinclair will be followed by expert respondents and audience discussion.
Additionally, four WFMC-sponsored workshops are to be presented at the World Social Forum:
1) Campaign for a Latin American Criminal Court for Transnational Organized Crime
2) How do we transform the United Nations and global governance: Learning to market global reform.
3) If you want peace, prepare for peace! Developing a United Nations system that prevents armed conflict and protect civilians.
4) Democratize global governance! The campaign for a UN Parliamentary Assembly.

The annual meeting will take place on August 11, from 11:30am to 4pm. Members are welcome to attend. If you plan on doing so, please let the national office know. Resolutions for submission to the WFMC annual meeting must be received at the national office no later than July 27, 2016.
Later on August 11, from 6 to 7:30pm, the World Peace Award will be presented. NOTE: You must register for the World Social Forum to attend the World Peace Award event.
