Women's Inclusion in Peace Processes

On Tuesday, September 20th, the Women, Peace and Security Network – Canada (WPSN-C) hosted a brown-bag lunch discussion with Dr. Thania Paffenholz, director of the Inclusive Peace and Transition Initiative in Geneva and and Eckhard Volkmann, the Initiative’s deputy director. The Inclusion Peace and Transition Initiative is “dedicated to evidence-based research and its transfer to policy and practice. The objective of the initiative is to support sustainable peace by providing expertise and information on the inclusion of diverse actors in peace and transition processes.”

The discussion centered primarily on the report, produced for UN Women, Making Women Count – Not Just Counting Women: Assessing Women’s Inclusion and Influence on Peace Negotiations, which provides evidence-based research on the participation, involvement, and influence of women in peace processes.
