The Ventotene International Seminar Begins September 1st

WFM-Canada's Youth Ambassador, Nada Abdallah, will represent WFM-Canada

The 40th annual Ventotene International Seminar will commence Sunday, September 1 and end September 6, 2024. This prestigious annual event brings together young leaders, scholars, activists, and policymakers from around the world to discuss and promote the ideals of global democracy, federalism, and peace. Hosted by the Altiero Spinelli Institute for Federalist Studies, the seminar takes place on the island of Ventotene, Italy, a symbolic location due to its historical significance in the European Federalist movement. The seminar serves as a platform for exchanging ideas, fostering international cooperation, and developing strategies to address the challenges facing global governance today.

The event is inspired by the Ventotene Manifesto, a visionary document written during World War II by Altiero Spinelli and Ernesto Rossi, advocating for a united Europe and global peace through federalism. The manifesto laid the groundwork for the European Union and continues to influence contemporary debates on global governance. The seminar, therefore, is not only an academic gathering but also a call to action for young leaders to advance the principles of federalism on a global scale.

Who's Representing the WFM-Canada?

WFM-Canada's 2024 Youth Ambassador, Nada Abdallah, will represent our organization at the Ventotene International Seminar tomorrow. As a Grade 12 Jordanian-Canadian student with a passion for diplomacy, law, STEM, and activism, Nada brings a fresh perspective to the seminar’s focus on federalism, peace, and democracy.

Nada earned her role after being named "Outstanding Delegate" at the 2024 World Federalist Conference’s Model United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA), a recognition for exceptional diplomacy and leadership. WFM-Canada is proud to support young leaders like Nada, providing them with opportunities to influence global policy and contribute to a more inclusive world. Her participation highlights the crucial role of youth in shaping a progressive global community.

Since 2022, WFM-Canada has been dedicated to expanding our youth programming, empowering young leaders from diverse backgrounds to engage meaningfully in global policy discussions. We are committed to crafting innovative and inclusive initiatives that amplify their voices and perspectives. Nada Abdallah's participation in the Ventotene International Seminar is a testament to our ongoing efforts to foster the next generation of global leaders. We look forward to continuing our work to provide dynamic platforms for youth to address global challenges and shape a more inclusive and progressive world.
